A small, and intimate restaurant, Rincón Suizo specializes in a variety of Swiss dishes, including: Raclette and Cheese Fondue, Wienerschnitzel, Sauerkraut, Sausages, Veal, plus Fresh Seafood. The famous chef Willy Diggelmann assures that his Swiss dishes are unsurpassed. The Rincón Suizo combined with Restaurant Bar 1985 in a converted townhouse close to the Hotel El Panamá.

One of Panama City's tonier restaurants. As the name implies, Eurasia's dishes are European with dashes of Asian flavors, stylishly presented. Daring and delicious, the food truly reflects the immigrant melting pot that is Panama City. The ambience is elegant, with papaya-colored walls, lavish art, heavy Spanish ironwork, and checkered marble floors, and there is a slightly more casual dining area near the bar. Waiters in starched white shirts and shiny cummerbunds provide some of the best service in all of Panama.

Some of the best Chinese food found outside China is here in Panama, and Madame Chang is where you come to savor it. Few restaurants serve a more delectable Peking duck, but there are also the jumbo shrimp a la sal, the gingery San Blas crab, the prawn rolls, and clams in black-bean sauce -- really, everything on the menu is worth recommending, so you'll have to go with whatever seems appealing. The proprietor, Siu Mee Chang, and her daughter Yolanda have merged the old with the new: The elegant ambience is more smart-casual than button-up conservative, and the cuisine blends traditional recipes from all Chinese provinces, but with a contemporary touch. Madame Chang also shakes up killer martinis.

Combining a taste of Panamanian flavors and folklore, Las Tinajas is certainly one of the more touristy restaurants in town, yet it shouldn't be pooh-poohed by those searching for authentic regional cuisine. Las Tinajas features costumed folkloric performances which are enjoyable, not hokey. They take place while diners go about tucking into some of the best Panamanian food in the city. It's no surprise, therefore, that Las Tinajas ranks high on many visitors' itineraries, so make reservations. Classic fare such as ropa vieja (spicy, shredded beef over rice), carimañolas (yuca rolls stuffed with meat stuffing), ceviche, and creole-style sea bass highlight the extensive menu. Performances begin at 9pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and there is a $5 cover charge for the show as well as a minimum $10 consumption charge. An on-site gift shop sells handicrafts.
